Arsenal beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 thanks to Havertz and Saka
Arsenal delivered a commanding season opener at home in the Premier League. The Londoners defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at the Emirates Stadium, with goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
Havertz opens the scoring after quarter of an hour
Arsenal took control of the match early on. In the 25th minute, it was Kai Havertz who broke the deadlock and put the home side ahead. The assist for that opening goal came from Bukayo Saka, who was directly involved in the first score of the game.
Saka doubles the lead in the closing stages
Wolverhampton Wanderers struggled for a long time to find an equaliser, and in the 74th minute the match was settled for good. Bukayo Saka, who had earlier provided the assist, now got on the scoresheet himself to make it 2-0. This time it was Kai Havertz who supplied the assist — the two combining to each play the role of scorer and provider once apiece.
Impressive start to the season for Arsenal
With a clean sheet and two goals scored, Arsenal put in a convincing performance at the Emirates Stadium. Manager Mikel Arteta's side could not have asked for a better start to the new Premier League season.
Upcoming fixtures for both clubs
Arsenal continue their programme with home matches against Aston Villa on 24 August and Brighton & Hove Albion on 31 August, followed by an away trip to Tottenham Hotspur on 15 September. Wolverhampton Wanderers face Chelsea on 25 August, play Nottingham Forest on 31 August, and then welcome Newcastle United to their own ground on 15 September.
