Biraghi rescues a point for Fiorentina in spectacular Serie A draw against Parma
Fiorentina claimed a 1-1 draw away at Parma in Serie A. Dennis Man opened the scoring for the hosts after 22 minutes, but Cristiano Biraghi equalised in the 75th minute. The closing stages were overshadowed by a red card for Fiorentina defender Marin Pongracic in the 83rd minute.
Man puts Parma ahead early
It was Parma who struck first in this Serie A home fixture. After 22 minutes, Dennis Man beat the Fiorentina goalkeeper, aided by an assist from Ange-Yoan Bonny. With that 1-0 scoreline at half-time, Parma looked to be on course for a home victory.
Biraghi rescues a point for the visitors
Fiorentina refused to be shaken off, however, and showed real resilience in the second half. In the 75th minute, Cristiano Biraghi found the net to make it 1-1. The point looked secure for a long time, until defender Marin Pongracic was shown a red card in the 83rd minute, forcing Fiorentina to see out the final stages with ten men.
Busy schedule on the horizon
Both clubs face a packed fixture list in the coming weeks. Parma take on Milan on 24 August, face Napoli on 31 August and host Udinese on 15 September. Fiorentina travel to Venezia on 25 August, play Monza on 1 September and visit Atalanta away on 15 September.
