FC Barcelona edges Valencia thanks to Lewandowski brace
FC Barcelona claimed a narrow but deserved away victory at Valencia in La Liga on Saturday. The Estadio de Mestalla clash ended 1-2, with Robert Lewandowski scoring both goals to prove the decisive figure for the Catalans.
Valencia take early lead
It was Valencia who initially looked set to dictate the game. Just before half-time, Hugo Duro broke the deadlock for the hosts, converting an excellent assist from Diego López. With a 1-0 lead in hand, Valencia appeared to be heading for a strong first half.
Lewandowski rescues Barcelona before the break
FC Barcelona, however, refused to be rattled. Moments before the half-time whistle, Robert Lewandowski pulled the visitors level. The Polish striker capitalised on an assist from young talent Lamine Yamal to restore parity: 1-1.

Barcelona struck again immediately after the interval. Once more it was Lewandowski who found the net, this time putting the away side firmly in front. That 1-2 completed the Catalans' comeback, and they held on to the lead for the remainder of the match.

Valencia continue their season with matches against Celta de Vigo on 23 August, Athletic Club on 28 August, and a home fixture against Villarreal on 31 August. FC Barcelona face a run of games against Athletic Club on 24 August, Rayo Vallecano on 27 August, and a home clash against Real Valladolid on 31 August.
