Not until the 75th minute did Sem Steijn finally break the deadlock for FC Twente, coolly converting a penalty to put his side in front.

FC Twente looked to be heading for three points, but Sparta Rotterdam refused to go down without a fight. Deep into stoppage time, Tobias Lauritsen fired home the equaliser, assisted by Ayoub Oufkir. The match ended 1-1, with both sides having to settle for a single point.
