Heidenheim beat St. Pauli 2-0 in the Bundesliga
1. FC Heidenheim claimed a convincing 2-0 victory away at FC St. Pauli in the Bundesliga. At the Millerntor-Stadion, the visitors kept a clean sheet and sealed the win with goals from Paul Wanner and Jan Schöppner.
Goalless first half in Hamburg
The Millerntor-Stadion witnessed a goalless opening 45 minutes, with both sides heading into the break level at 0-0. It was Heidenheim, however, who came out with far greater purpose after the interval.
Wanner breaks the deadlock in the 66th minute
The wait for the opening goal lasted until the 66th minute, when Paul Wanner beat the St. Pauli goalkeeper to put Heidenheim ahead. The goal came courtesy of an assist from Marvin Pieringer, giving the visitors a deserved lead.
Schöppner seals the win late on
With just eight minutes remaining, Jan Schöppner put the result beyond all doubt for the home side. The defender made it 2-0, assisted by Mathias Honsak, securing both the clean sheet and all three points for Heidenheim.
