Inter hand Lecce second straight defeat with convincing 2-0 win
Internazionale secured a convincing 2-0 home victory over Lecce in Serie A at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Goals from Matteo Darmian and Hakan Çalhanoğlu were enough to deliver Inter their first three points of the season, while Lecce are left with two consecutive defeats to their name.
Darmian opens the scoring early
Inter took control of the match as early as the fifth minute, when Matteo Darmian broke the deadlock with an assist from Mehdi Taremi. The early goal gave the Milanese side a solid platform to build on and set Lecce up for a difficult evening.
Çalhanoğlu wraps it up in the second half
Lecce failed to find a response in the first half, and in the second period Hakan Çalhanoğlu put any remaining doubt to bed in the 69th minute. The midfielder doubled the lead, sealing what was a near-flawless defensive performance from the hosts.
Standings and significance after two matchdays
With this victory, Internazionale claim their first win of the season and move up to four points after two games. Lecce, on the other hand, are facing a tough start to the campaign: two matches played, two defeats.
Looking ahead: a demanding schedule for both clubs
