It took nearly half an hour for the contest between Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur to truly come to life. After 29 minutes, Spanish right-back Pedro Porro broke the deadlock, finishing coolly from an assist by James Maddison to give Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 lead at the interval.

After the break, Leicester City refused to be written off. In the 57th minute, Jamie Vardy made his mark: the striker scored the equaliser after an assist from Issahaku Fatawu. The 1-1 final score earned The Foxes a welcome point in their Premier League campaign.
Remarkable circumstances surrounding Vardy's appearance
Vardy's goal was made all the more extraordinary by the situation leading up to the match. Leicester City manager Cooper had revealed before kick-off that his side was without a fit striker. On Vardy, he said: 'He said he feels good; he was a little uncomfortable with the fact that we had no fit striker, and he made himself available. You have to trust his judgement.' Vardy had not played a single minute of pre-season.
Busy schedule ahead for both sides
Both clubs have little time to recover. Leicester City travel to Fulham on 24 August, host a home fixture on 31 August and make the trip to Crystal Palace on 14 September. Tottenham Hotspur welcome Everton on 24 August, visit Newcastle United on 1 September and then host rivals Arsenal on 15 September.
