Joseph Oosting returns to the Eredivisie after nine months as the new head coach of Go Ahead Eagles. The manager succeeds Paul Boel in Deventer.
Oosting makes his return to the Eredivisie
For Joseph Oosting, it is a welcome reunion with top-flight Dutch football. Nine months after being dismissed by FC Twente, the manager is once again in charge of an Eredivisie squad. Following his departure from Enschede in September, Oosting ventured abroad in December with Belgian club Antwerp. That adventure, however, did not go as hoped, which cleared the way for a new challenge closer to home.
Instant connection with Go Ahead Eagles
Oosting found that challenge in Deventer, at Go Ahead Eagles. During his holiday in Rome, the manager sat down with technical director Paul Bosvelt and Jan Willem van Dop, and the conversations impressed him greatly. "Time flew by, which for me was a sign of the strong connection we had," said Oosting. What particularly appealed to him about the Deventer club is its authentic, working-class character. "That suits who I am. I see myself as a down-to-earth guy and feel at home at a club like this," he explained of his decision.
