Lozano shines with two goals as PSV cruise past RKC Waalwijk 5-1
PSV Eindhoven defeated RKC Waalwijk 5-1 on Saturday evening in the Eredivisie. At the Philips Stadion, Hirving Lozano scored twice, while Johan Bakayoko, Jerdy Schouten and Malik Tillman also found the net for the hosts. Richard van der Venne scored the only goal for RKC.
Bakayoko opens the scoring early on
PSV Eindhoven set the tempo from the very first whistle and rewarded themselves early. After just nine minutes, Johan Bakayoko broke the deadlock with an assist from Joey Veerman, immediately setting the tone for this Eredivisie clash.
Schouten and Tillman extend the lead
The hosts gave RKC Waalwijk no chance to work their way back into the match. In the 28th minute, Jerdy Schouten doubled the advantage, this time assisted by Luuk de Jong. Less than ten minutes later, Malik Tillman made it 3-0, converting a pass from Joey Veerman, who registered his second assist of the evening.
Lozano wraps up the match with a brace
PSV Eindhoven remained firmly in control after the break. In the 72nd minute, Hirving Lozano made it 4-0 with an assist from Olivier Boscagli. RKC Waalwijk pulled one back through Richard van der Venne in the 77th minute, but it proved only a brief interruption to PSV's dominance. Just two minutes after the consolation goal, Lozano struck again — this time assisted by Guus Til — to seal the 5-1 final scoreline.
Looking ahead: a busy Eredivisie schedule for both sides
PSV Eindhoven continue their Eredivisie campaign on 18 August with an away fixture at Heracles Almelo, followed by a visit to Almere City on 24 August and a home match against Go Ahead Eagles on 1 September. RKC Waalwijk host FC Groningen on 17 August, travel to Go Ahead Eagles on 25 August, and welcome AZ to their stadium on 30 August.
