Napoli crushes Bologna 3-0 to claim first win of the season
Napoli secured a convincing Serie A victory over Bologna at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Giovanni Simeone. It was Napoli's first win of the season, while Bologna are left with just one point after two matchdays.
Napoli dominant from start to finish
On home soil, Napoli were firmly in control. In a match that left no doubt about the outcome, the Neapolitan side kept Bologna completely off the scoresheet and cruised to an impressive 3-0 victory at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. It was Napoli's first three points of the current Serie A campaign.
Di Lorenzo opens the scoring just before the break
The opening goal arrived in first-half stoppage time. Giovanni Di Lorenzo was the composed finisher, set up by an assist from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. A clinical finish at just the right moment gave Napoli a well-deserved lead heading into the dressing room.
Kvaratskhelia and Simeone seal the victory
In the 75th minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia got on the scoresheet himself to make it 2-0, this time teed up by Amir Rrahmani. The Georgian winger was thus involved in two of the three goals. Giovanni Simeone completed the scoring in the 90th minute to round off a 3-0 result, with David Neres providing the assist. Bologna were outclassed throughout and failed to find the net on a single occasion.
Next fixtures for Napoli and Bologna
Napoli continue their league campaign on 31 August with a home fixture against Parma, followed by away trips to Cagliari on 15 September and Juventus on 22 September. Bologna host Empoli on 31 August before travelling to Como on 15 September and Monza on 22 September. The Bolognese sit on just one point after two rounds of fixtures.
