Noni Madueke fires Chelsea to first win with hat-trick against Wolverhampton Wanderers
Chelsea claimed their first Premier League victory of the season by thrashing Wolverhampton Wanderers 6-2. Noni Madueke was the standout performer with a hat-trick, while João Félix, Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer also got on the scoresheet for the Londoners.
Madueke shines with hat-trick at Wolverhampton
Chelsea have finally got their season on track. The Blues won convincingly 6-2 away at Wolverhampton Wanderers, thanks to a strong collective display and an impressive hat-trick from Noni Madueke. Chelsea's remaining goals were scored by Nicolas Jackson, Cole Palmer and João Félix. For Wolverhampton Wanderers, Matheus Cunha and Jørgen Strand Larsen were on target.
Eventful first half full of goals
Chelsea made their intentions clear from the very start. Nicolas Jackson gave them the lead as early as the second minute. Wolverhampton Wanderers hit back, however, drawing level after 27 minutes through Matheus Cunha, who was set up by Rayan Aït-Nouri. Just before the break it looked as though Chelsea would head into half-time in front when Cole Palmer fired home, assisted by Jackson. But Wolverhampton Wanderers refused to buckle and levelled again before the whistle, with Jørgen Strand Larsen converting an assist from Toti to make it 2-2.
Chelsea take firm control after the break
Chelsea struck almost immediately after the restart. Noni Madueke put his side ahead for the third time, then doubled the advantage in the 58th minute following a pass from Cole Palmer. With just over 25 minutes remaining, Madueke completed his hat-trick — again assisted by Palmer. In the 80th minute, João Félix rounded off the scoring at 6-2, with Pedro Neto providing the assist.
First win for Chelsea, second defeat for Wolves
With this victory, Chelsea secure their first win of the season after two matches. Wolverhampton Wanderers, meanwhile, suffer their second consecutive defeat. Both clubs have now played two Premier League fixtures. Chelsea continue their campaign at home against Crystal Palace on 1 September, before away trips to AFC Bournemouth on 14 September and West Ham United on 21 September. Wolverhampton Wanderers travel to Nottingham Forest on 31 August, host a home fixture on 15 September and visit Aston Villa on 21 September.
