Racism allegation in Serie A dismissed: Davis case against Dossena closed

Italy's sports disciplinary authority has dismissed the racism allegation filed by Udinese striker Keinan Davis against Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena. The incident occurred in the closing stages of the Serie A match between Cagliari and Udinese on 9 May, matchday 36 of the Italian top division, which ended in a 2-0 victory for the Friuli-based side.

Allegation after heated finale

The incident in the closing stages of the Cagliari-Udinese clash on 9 May sparked considerable uproar in Serie A. English striker Keinan Davis of Udinese accused Cagliari defender Alberto Dossena of directing racist language at him. The accusation gained further traction when Davis's Udinese teammate Nicolò Zaniolo threw his weight behind the claim in a social media post.

Disciplinary authority dismisses case

Italy's sports judge closed the case following an investigation, taking no further action. The allegation made by Davis against Dossena was thereby officially dropped. The Cagliari-Udinese match, played on matchday 36—the penultimate round of the Serie A season—ended 2-0 in Udinese's favour.
