RB Leipzig claimed a narrow 1-0 Bundesliga victory over VfL Bochum 1848. Antonio Eromonsele Nordby Nusa proved to be the match-winner with a second-half strike, though the hosts' evening was soured by a red card for Willi Orban late on.
Goalless first half
The opening period of the clash between RB Leipzig and VfL Bochum 1848 produced no goals. Both sides cancelled each other out and headed into the dressing rooms at the break with the scoreline level.
Nusa settles the contest in the second half
The deadlock was not broken until the 59th minute, when Antonio Eromonsele Nordby Nusa put RB Leipzig ahead with what would prove to be the only goal of the match. That 1-0 lead remained on the scoreboard all the way to the final whistle.
Orban's red card shapes the closing stages
The closing stages were far from straightforward for RB Leipzig. Defender Willi Orban was shown a red card in the 85th minute, forcing the hosts to see out the final minutes with ten men. Bochum, however, were unable to capitalise on their numerical advantage.
Looking ahead: busy schedule for both clubs
RB Leipzig continue their Bundesliga campaign on 31 August with a home fixture against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, followed by matches against FC Union Berlin on 14 September and an away trip to St. Pauli on 22 September. VfL Bochum 1848 face Borussia Mönchengladbach on 31 August, before taking on SC Freiburg on 14 September and hosting Holstein Kiel on 21 September.
