Son Heung-min shines with brace as Tottenham Hotspur cruise past Everton

The London club ran out convincing 4-0 winners against the visitors from Liverpool, securing their first three points of the Premier League season. After two matchdays, Tottenham Hotspur sit on four points, while Everton suffer their second consecutive defeat and remain rooted to the bottom with nothing to show.
Bissouma opens the scoring on his return from suspension
It was Yves Bissouma who broke the deadlock early in the match, finding the net in the 14th minute with an assist from Dejan Kulusevski to make it 1-0. Notably, the Malian midfielder was making his comeback from a one-match ban imposed after he was filmed inhaling nitrous oxide.
Son Heung-min takes over with a double strike
Eleven minutes after the opener, Heung-min Son doubled the home side's lead. The South Korean captain was not done there, completing his personal brace in the 77th minute, this time assisted by Dutch defender Micky van de Ven. Son was undoubtedly the standout performer on the Tottenham side.
Romero rounds off the scoring after the break
Sandwiched between Son's two goals, Cristian Romero put the game to bed in the 71st minute, making it 3-0. The Argentine defender capitalised on an assist from midfielder James Maddison to extend Tottenham's commanding lead.
Outlook: tough fixtures ahead for both clubs
Tottenham Hotspur face a demanding run of fixtures: an away trip to Newcastle United follows on 1 September, then the North London derby against Arsenal on 15 September, before welcoming Brentford on 21 September. Everton host AFC Bournemouth on 31 August, followed by a home clash with Aston Villa on 14 September and an away fixture at Leicester City on 21 September.
