Trevoh Chalobah open to Como move as Italians table strongest bid of €27 million
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah is open to a summer switch to Como, the club managed by Cesc Fàbregas. The newly promoted Italian side have put forward the strongest offer of all interested clubs, though their opening bid of €27 million falls well short of Chelsea's asking price.
Como make first concrete move, Chelsea want more than €35 million
Como have become the first club to table a concrete bid for Chalobah, coming in at €27 million. That figure does not meet Chelsea's demands, however, with the London club holding out for more than €35 million. Negotiations are therefore far from concluded, but there appears to be willingness on both sides to find a deal.
Three reasons why Chalobah is attracted to Como
The 26-year-old defender is said to be interested in the move for three reasons. First, the prospect of Champions League football under Fàbregas appeals to him. Second, Como's location — widely regarded as one of the most beautiful settings in Italy — is a draw in itself. A third reason has been cited without further detail, but it adds to his broadly positive attitude towards completing the transfer.
Premier League clubs also in the running
Como are not the only suitors for Chalobah. Crystal Palace and Fulham have both registered their interest in the Chelsea defender. For now, though, Como look the most serious candidate, with a bid already on the table and a player who is genuinely open to moving to Italy.
