Van Hoorenbeeck and Lammers deliver hard-fought victory for FC Twente at NEC

FC Twente claimed a 1-2 away win at NEC in the Eredivisie on Saturday. Goals from Sam Lammers and Alec Van Hoorenbeeck ultimately proved enough to secure all three points at Sportpark De Weeren, despite an equaliser from Kodai Sano.
Lammers puts FC Twente ahead early
FC Twente made a purposeful start to their away fixture against NEC. As early as the eighth minute, Sam Lammers opened the scoring. The forward was played in by Sayfallah Ltaief and finished coolly to make it 0-1 for the visitors from Enschede.
NEC level through Kodai Sano
NEC refused to be rattled and battled their way back into the match. Just under half an hour in, Kodai Sano drew the hosts level. The Japanese forward capitalised on an assist from Bart van Rooij to make it 1-1, sending both sides into the dressing room on equal terms.

After the break, FC Twente took control once again. In the 54th minute, Alec Van Hoorenbeeck put the Tukkers back in front. The defender was set up by Bas Kuipers and settled the final score at 1-2. NEC were unable to find a second equaliser for the remainder of the match.
