Lucas Bretelle signs new contract with Le Mans FC until 2029

Le Mans FC officially confirmed the contract extension of midfielder Lucas Bretelle on Monday, 29 June 2026. The 24-year-old right-footed midfielder, who arrived from Belgian club La Louvière during the winter transfer window, has extended his deal with the club through 2029.

From injury to regular starter

Lucas Bretelle joined Le Mans FC in January following ankle surgery he underwent while still playing for Belgian side La Louvière. Despite that difficult start, the 24-year-old midfielder quickly established himself in the Le Mans squad. Before his spell in Belgium, the midfielder from the Hauts-de-Seine region spent five seasons — from summer 2020 to summer 2025 — with Orléans in the National, France's third tier. In his youth, he came through the academies of Rueil-Malmaison and FC Lorient.

Impressive final stretch of the season

During the past campaign, Bretelle featured in Le Mans FC's last thirteen matches. He appeared from the bench in the first three of those outings, but in the following ten games the 1.72-metre midfielder featured in every starting line-up. Over that run he contributed two goals and one assist. The coaching staff praised his work rate, his ability to win possession, his passing accuracy and his capacity to make penetrating runs. With his contract extension through 2029, Le Mans FC secures a midfielder who has developed into an established fixture in their engine room.
