Second, outstanding debts were successfully renegotiated so all parties involved came away with something — though it will still take many years before Lyon is completely debt-free. Third, she enforced strict cost controls: the wage bill was halved in less than a year. This was achieved through the departures of high earners and clever maneuvering in the transfer market, with acquisitions of players who initially didn't make headlines but were budget-friendly.
End of the Textor era
With Michele Kang's official takeover, Olympique Lyonnais also closes the John Textor chapter for good. Kang's arrival marks a new phase for a club that has had to completely reinvent itself at record pace, both on and off the pitch.
