Paris FC choose Liam Rosenior over Walid Regragui
Paris FC have made their decision on a new head coach: Liam Rosenior is the preferred candidate, edging out Walid Regragui. The former Morocco national team manager was genuinely in the frame at the Ligue 1 club, but will now have to look elsewhere for his next job.
Kombouaré on his way out despite solid half-season
Antoine Kombouaré looks set to leave Paris FC despite a respectable run since taking charge midway through the season. The former Nantes boss had hoped to extend his one-year contract, but negotiations stalled and tensions with the club's hierarchy gradually mounted. As a result, Paris FC are opting for a fresh start on the bench with a different manager.
Rosenior first choice as Regragui misses out
Transfer insider Daniel Riolo laid out the situation plainly: 'Unless there's a last-minute reversal, it should be Liam Rosenior — he stands out as the clear number one.' Rosenior was not the only name on Paris FC's list. The club also held two or three conversations with Walid Regragui. Riolo admitted he would have liked to see the 50-year-old Moroccan in the Parisian dugout, but the club has ultimately gone with Rosenior.
Regragui still without a club after leaving Morocco
Regragui has been on the market for several weeks, having stepped down as Morocco's national team coach shortly after the lost Africa Cup of Nations final on home soil against Senegal (0-1 after extra time). Since then, he has made no secret of his ambition to manage a club side in Europe. His hopes of a swift landing in Ligue 1 have come to nothing for now — the door at Paris FC is firmly closed, and Regragui will need to be patient.
