Quevilly Rouen Métropole strengthen squad with three National 1 recruits, including former Ligue 1 player
Quevilly Rouen Métropole announced three new signings on Monday 29 June 2026, all arriving from the National 1. The standout addition is Warren Tchimbembé, a defensive midfielder with experience in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2. The club also confirmed the contract extension of Natanaël Bouekou — all of this just two days before pre-season training resumes on Wednesday 1 July 2026.
From two contracted players to a proper squad
A week ago, Quevilly Rouen Métropole were in a precarious position. The Seine-Maritime club had just two players under contract: Mounsesse, bound for Portuguese second-division side Torreense, and Thérésin, whose future remained unclear. The picture has changed dramatically in recent days. Following the first professional contract for Samuel Come Ruiz, the extension of goalkeeper Théo Pionnier, and the arrivals of Mathis Hamdi and Schinear Mopila, the club announced four further moves on 29 June 2026. Alongside the contract extension of defensive midfielder Natanaël Bouekou, new head coach Gabriel Santos — who replaced Fabien Valeri in the dugout — has brought in three reinforcements from the National 1.
Gazzaoui and Sarr bolster the ranks
Youssef Gazzaoui is a 30-year-old right-back who spent last season at Hyères 83, making 30 league appearances and contributing one goal and one assist. He is no stranger to the National 1 level, having previously represented RC Pays de Grasse, Aubagne and Sedan, accumulating more than a hundred appearances at this tier in total. Djibril Sarr is a 24-year-old defensive midfielder who featured 19 times for Nîmes Olympique in the National 2 last season. Before that, he played for FC Balagne in the National 2 and National 3, and for AS Furiani-Agliani in the National 3.
Tchimbembé: from Ligue 1 to a fresh start at QRM
The most experienced of the three arrivals is Warren Tchimbembé. The defensive midfielder, who came through the academy at Troyes, had his finest years at FC Metz, where he made 24 Ligue 1 appearances — 15 in the 2020-21 season and nine the following year. His career also includes 41 Ligue 2 outings, a loan spell at Spanish side CD Mirandés (six appearances in the Segunda División, January to May 2022) and a loan move to Guingamp in Ligue 2 during the 2022-23 season. The 2023-24 campaign was difficult: Tchimbembé managed just five appearances for his then-club's reserve side. Last season he turned out first for Vardar Skopje in North Macedonia before joining FC Chauray in the National 2 in February. At QRM, the midfielder will be looking to revive his career.
